MILLENNIUM GIFT TO THE NATION
To celebrate the millennium in 2000, FAPE assembled the unprecedented GIFT TO THE NATION, comprised of 245 American artworks that have been placed in permanent locations in embassies around the world. The GIFT, assembled through donation and purchase, includes paintings, sculptures, works on paper, photography, decorative objects, crafts, tribal art, and folk art by more than 145 artists. Ranging in date from the 19th century through the millennium, the GIFT reflects America’s history, diversity, and freedom of expression, and the breadth and depth of its artistic achievements in all mediums.
