Annenberg Endowment

In 2001 Leonore and Walter Annenberg established the Winfield House Gift, a $5 million endowment for the preservation and upkeep of Winfield House, the official residence of the U.S. Ambassador to the Court of St. James’s, London, United Kingdom. Ambassador and Mrs. Annenberg underwrote extensive redecoration during their 1969 to 1974 tenure at the residence. One of their most significant contributions was the installation of hand-painted Chinese wallpaper in the Garden Room.

The work done by the Annenbergs at Winfield House ensured that future ambassadors could concentrate on preservation and conservation, not interior design. Requests for funding are made by the State Department and presented to FAPE for approval. Projects that are consistent with the maintenance of the historical continuity of Winfield House receive funding from the endowment.

Ellsworth Kelly Fund for Conservation

In 2016 FAPE received a landmark gift from the Ellsworth Kelly Foundation to establish an endowment entitled the Ellsworth Kelly Fund for Conservation, for the maintenance and care of FAPE’s Collection. The endowment guarantees that FAPE’s entire Collection will be cared for in perpetuity at no cost to the government.

“Ellsworth strongly supported FAPE’s mission, and we were happy to establish an endowment for the care of its Collection,” said Jack Shear, FAPE Board Member and President of the Ellsworth Kelly Foundation, which was established in 1991, and provides grants to local, national and international programs. “It is important that these great works of American art be preserved for future generations and ensure a sense of place around the world.”
