U.S. Ambassador’s Residence - Singapore, Republic of Singapore

The U.S. Embassy in Singapore is one of the largest American embassies in the Asia-Pacific region. The U.S. Ambassador’s Residence in Singapore, Republic of Singapore was relocated from its original location at Spring Grove to a new location at Leedon Park in the early 1990’s.

 

Artist Commission

Lively native myths and deities, plus traditional art techniques of the region, inspired California artist James Melchert’s design for two tile murals on the entrance walls of the U.S. Ambassador’s Residence in Singapore. The result—an energetic blend of exotic Asian imagery and American abstraction—now greets visitors. The project was completed in 1996.
