Michael Singer

American, 1945 - 2024

Singer’s work has been pushing the boundaries of outdoor and indoor sculpture since the 1970s. He has been influential in shaping the definition of site-specific art and ways in which it is incorporated into public places. His sculptural gardens have been noted for their unique regenerative qualities, with each project shaped to restore environmental function through the creation of the built work. Singer has received numerous awards, and his works are part of public collections in the United States and abroad, including the Australian National Gallery, Canberra; the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humlebæk, Denmark; and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, The Museum of Modern Art, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York City.
